Interior Designer - Residential

DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create initial concept packages with a strong design story to guide the design process through project completion
• Conduct programming efforts through space planning studies to arrive at final approved plan that meet the goals of clients
• Design spaces while considering architecture, interior design and landscape as a holistic experience including detailed design documentation and specification of furniture, lighting, artwork and finishes/materials
• Document plan and produce detailed construction sets
• Lead day-to-day project coordination efforts with the ability to prioritize deadlines, manage communication and coordination with clients and consultants
• Communicate conceptual design ideas through 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings
• Deliver iterative design ideas that meet project goals including project schedules, budgets, applicable codes
• Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, regulatory agencies, and internal teams (Interiors, Architecture, Procurement) to meet overall project objectives
• Participate in the construction administration of projects - including review of submittals and finish samples, value engineering efforts to maintain design intent, and on-site visits

EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or related field from an accredited school
• 4-5+ years of residential design experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS + ABILITIES

• Experience in each phase of a residential project including: schematic design, design documentation, construction documentation (Revit preferred), FF&E design and procurement
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
• Knowledge of design requirements, construction methods and materials for high end residential and commercial environments
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, deadlines and ability to work on various projects concurrently
• Visual communication skills are highly valued
• Passionate, self-starting, dedicated, efficient
• Reliable car and willing to travel
• Familiarity with Portland design vendors, resources, and showrooms ++
